A new leak surfaces before Samsung's official unveiling of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus scheduled for this weekend during the 2018 Mobile World Congress.
Previous reports already posted the supposed leaked images and hardware specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. However, as consumers want to know more about the South Korean manufacturer's new flagship model, the internet delivers. Roland Quandt, a renowned tech tipster, reportedly shared the prices of the new smartphones before its official debut on Feb. 25.
iPhone X Price Comparison
As Apple made headlines last year when it established a new tier of flagship smartphone prices, buyers have been wary about future models of the same caliber from other brands.
Android handset models are usually priced lower than Cupertino-based company's offerings, but the new Samsung models were rumored to fall somewhere close to the price of the iPhone X.
Outrageous Costs For New Technology
Most industry insiders understand that as technology improves, the price likewise goes up. Quandt confirmed via Twitter that the Samsung's new mobile phones will definitely come close to what Apple offers on the iPhone X.
The values posted were reportedly taken from the supposed retail cost in Norway. Buyers might be surprised to find out that the 64 GB variants of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will initially cost an estimated $1,131 and $1,259 each respectively.

At first glance, buyers might automatically presume that both models are more expensive than the X. However, a look at the cost of Apple's handsets in Norway still proves that the newest iOS devices still sit on top of the list.
Earlier this year, speculation suggested that this year's refresh will be worth at least a $100 more than its predecessor. It looks like the leaked prices coincide with the rumors.
Expected Hardware
According to Samsung, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will highlight its camera technology but leaked specifications did not specify exactly what would be different this time around. Users would need to wait until the manufacturer unveils the smartphone during the 2018 MWC this coming weekend.
Nevertheless, details listed from older reports claim that it will either have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC or Samsung 's own Exynos processor depending on markets. The smartphone will run on Android 8.0 right out of the box. Bixby will reportedly make its comeback as the digital voice assistant onboard the flagship model.
So far, the available color options upon launch will be Midnight Black, Titanium Grey, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple. Samsung might announce more choices during its press event this weekend.
