- Iraq's government is no longer in talks with Exxon Mobil (XOM) for construction of a giant water treatment facility vital for the country to grow its oil production capacity, says the director general of Basrah Oil.
- The Iraqi company instead will award the contract to build the Common Seawater Supply Project through a tender process, which it expects to complete at the end of July.
- The official says Basrah Oil remains in discussion with XOM on other projects in southern Iraq, including the development of the Nahr Bin Umar and Artawi oilfields and building export facilities.
