Itronics E-Scrap Circuit Board Supplier, New2U Computers, Receives “Responsible Recycling” R2:2013 Certification

Itronics Increasing E-Scrap Refining Operations; $22 Billion in Gold Wasted

RENO, Nev., Aug. 21, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Itronics Inc. (OTC: ITRO), a diversified producer of GOLD’n GRO zinc fertilizers and silver products and a green “Zero Waste” technology development company, today reported that its E-Scrap circuit board supplier New2U Computers has become the first nonprofit in northern Nevada to achieve the Responsible Recycling (R2:2013) certification.  This certification is designed to help ensure the quality, transparency, environmental and social responsibility of electronics recycling facilities and their downstream vendors such as Itronics.

As part of developing its refining operations to be able to recover base and precious metals from E-Scrap circuit boards in 2017, Itronics teamed up with Disability Resources, Inc. and its division, New2U Computers, to supply Itronics with E-Scrap circuit boards for recycling.  Disability Resources is a nonprofit that helps individuals with disabilities achieve their highest potential through support programs and skills training.

Itronics is expanding its E-Scrap refining operations and New2U Computers is now its main supplier of scrap circuit boards.  Receipt of the R2:2013 certification is providing New2U Computers the credibility to acquire new and larger recycling contracts with local businesses, including hospitals and waste management companies, which is making it possible for New2U Computers to increase the supply of E-Scrap circuit boards to support Itronics’ refining expansion.

Disability Resources/New2U Computers has also received ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certifications and is the first northern Nevada nonprofit to receive these certifications.  Vivian Ruiz, Executive Director of Disability Resources, Inc., stated: “Achievement of these certifications demonstrates our commitment to our community by providing assurance that their electronics waste and data is handled in an environmentally safe and secure manner while providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.”  Disability Resources supports approximately 150 children and adults in all of its programs.  Part-time employment and job training are provided at minimum wage or higher.

New2U Computers receives donated computers from the community, which are either recycled or refurbished for resell in their store or to be given to individuals with disabilities through their Computer Giving Program.  Itronics President Dr. John Whitney stated: “Itronics sees this as the optimum use of community resources.  We are proud to be able to collaborate with an organization like Disability Resources/New2U Computers to help provide job opportunities in the community to those who may not have jobs otherwise.  We are excited to be able to help grow the recycling business in a way that is very beneficial to the northern Nevada Community.”

Itronics reported that gold valued at $22 billion contained in E-waste was thrown away in 2016, in a press release dated January 4, 2018.   The report went on to say that the amount of gold thrown away in 2016 was equal to 15 percent of mine production.  Also noted was that about $1 billion of silver was thrown away in the E-waste.

Itronics pioneered the development of the first “Zero Waste” technology value-added hazardous waste recycling that converts demetallized liquid photochemical waste into silver bullion and liquid ingredients used to manufacture the line of high quality GOLD’n GRO liquid fertilizers.  Itronics is now pioneering and has achieved operational proof of concept for its second “Zero Waste” technology, the breakthrough e-scrap refining technology.
