Share market update: Nifty Bank index falls around 1%; ICICI Bank slumps 2%

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.64 per cent down at 25,232.75 around 10:53 am on Monday with its components trading on a mixed note.

Shares of Punjab National Bank (up 1.50 per cent), Federal Bank (up 1.36 per cent), Bank of Baroda (up 0.78 per cent), State Bank of India (up 0.32 per cent) and HDFC Bank (up 0.12 per cent) were the top gainers in the bank index.

ICICI Bank (down 2.27 per cent), Axis Bank (down 2.21 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 1.48 per cent) and YES Bank (down 0.65 per cent), were among the major laggards.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 40.60 points at 10,431.9 while BSE Sensex was 118.47 points at 34,615.11 at that time.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, HPCL, ICICI Bank, ITC, Bank of Baroda, SBI, Idea Cellular, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Vedanta, Indian Oil Corp and RIL were among the most traded securities on the NSE.
