Share market update: IT shares fall; Tech Mahindra slips 4%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index was trading 2.99 per cent down at 14,258.85 around 11:47 am with most of its components trading in the red.

Shares of Tech Mahindra (down 4.06 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 3.67 per cent), Infosys (down 3.13 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services (down 2.96 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

NIIT Technologies (down 2.85 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (down 1.58 per cent) and Wipro (down 1.46 per cent) too were trading with losses.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 32.80 points at 10,615.3 while BSE Sensex was up 86.97 points at 35,231.46 at that time.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.

Shares of Ashok Leyland, SBI, HPCL, Indian Oil Corp, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Idea Cellular, BPCL and Zee Entertainment were among the most traded shares on the National Stock Exchange.
