- Duke Energy (DUK -0.7%) says 175K customers remain without power after North and South Carolina were slammed by a snowstorm over the weekend that saw 475K customers lose power at one time or another.
- The peak hit at around noon Sunday, when more than 270K customers were without power at one time.
- While the outages are significant, they are much fewer than the 1.8M customers of DUK and Progress Energy that lost power during the ice storm of December 2002.
- DUK says it could take days before all the lights come back on, even as nearly 9K workers are responding to the outages.
