Share market update: Nifty Metal index flat; NMDC down 1%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Metal index was flat in Thursday's morning trading session with most of its components trading on a mixed note.

Shares of Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (up 1.66 per cent), JSW Steel (up 0.72 per cent), Vedanta (up 0.53 per cent) and National Aluminium Company (up 0.41 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

APL Apollo Tubes (down 1.19 per cent), NMDC (down 1.07 per cent), Hindalco Industries (down 0.94 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 0.89 per cent) were trading with losses.

The Nifty Metal index was flat at 2967.05 around 11:09 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 27.75 points at 10,918.05 while the BSE Sensex was up 106.25 points at 36,427.54.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, SAIL, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Indian Oil Corp, Ashok Leyland, Bank of Baroda, Infosys, NTPC, Hindalco Industries, SBI and RIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
