10 year benchmark yields are mixed

The German DAX has had its worst day since February 7 (see post here). That comes a single day after the index breached the 200 day moving average to the top side for the 1st time since August 2018.

The provisional closes are showing:

  • German DAX, -1.4%
  • France's CAC, -0.6%
  • UK's FTSE, -0.3%
  • Spain's Ibex, -0.9%
  • Italy's FTSE MIB, -0.47%

In the benchmark 10 year note sector, yields are ending the session mixed:

In the forex market, a flight into the safety of the CHF has moved that currency to being the strongest of the majors today. The GBP remains mired in a political mess and is the weakest currency of the day.

IN other markets:

  • Spot gold is down -$6.07 at $1300.50. The low reached $1298.60. The higher dollar is helping
  • WTI crude oil futures are up $0.77 after a huge drawdown of inventories this morning. The futures are trading at $59.80. The high reached $60.03.

IN the US stock market, indices are lower but off the lows:

  • S&P is down -15.15 points o -0.54% at 2817.15
  • Nasdaq is down -35.5 points or -0.46% at 7688.10
  • Dow is down -173 points or -0.68% at 25713.

US yields are lower with yields down -1.7 to -2.4 bps
