Anchorage, a platform for digital asset custody, has just started supporting Ripple Labs’ XRP cryptocurrency.

According to a blog post from the company, they want to provide support for this asset as institutional investors have a use case for it.

Apparently, part of this support came with help for Ripple’s Xpring.

“We used the rippled (sic) open source server, the node implementation that powers the XRP Ledger maintained by Xpring. We also used xrpl.org extensively for its clear and helpful documentation of the XRP Ledger,” the post notes.

Support for XRP begins today, and the platform is interested in expanding this support in the future. Interestingly, they’ll also be able to support XRP’s Payment Channels if users ask for it.

Those interested in voicing their wanted support for more assets can do so on Anchorage’s website.

Ripple is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies used by banks and other services for international payments. Mexico is one such country that might start using the asset, as InsideBitcoins has previously reported on.

Recently Ripple was in the news due to a fake YouTuber impersonating the project’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, and using that position to promote their scam project, InsideBitcoins has also reported on.
