In May, the crypto industry is set to experience a change with the leading cryptocurrency going under its block reward halving. Interestingly enough, one well-known ultimate fighting championship (UFC) fighter has been promoting it on his social media account.

Ben Askren, the former UFC fighter and well-known bitcoin enthusiast has just changed his display name on his Twitter account to “Bitcoin Halving May 13”. With the fighter having more than 300,000 followers on Twitter, this could help spread awareness for the halving in May.

Ben’s new display name on Twitter is referring to the official event occurring in May which Highly anticipated within the industry. When the total blocks in the bitcoin network are 630,000, the halving event will reduce the block reward from 12.5 BTC to 6.25 BTC.

The UFC league recently teamed up with Dapper labs, the company behind the CryptoKitties blockchain game. This was in order to help launch a digital UFC branded collectables. With an estimated 5 million people tuning in to watch events in the UFC, who knows what it could do for adoption in the future.
