- Sanofi (NASDAQ:SNY) will not carry out forced redundancies in Europe, the French Industry Minister Agnes Pannier-Runacher has told Senate during weekly government questions.
- In response, Sanofi has issued a statement saying, “We always stated since our plan has been made public last summer 2020 that departures would be voluntary.”
- To protest job cuts, Unions held a one-day strike on Tuesday at several sites including a lab where the company is developing the COVID-19 vaccine. The French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire promised on Monday that government would ensure there will be no layoffs nor plant closure.
- In June Reuters reported, the French pharma giant was planning to cut hundreds of jobs across Europe and several countries outside the region after a cost reduction drive worth €2.0B ($2.2B) announced in 2019.
