- A new week of U.S. streaming ratings from Nielsen brought more viewing dominance from Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) - thanks this time to some new original content - and Disney Plus (NYSE:DIS) staking out its usual outposts with an ongoing original and its movies.
- The original-content chart for the most recent streaming week (Feb. 1-Feb. 7) was led by newcomer Firefly Lane (NFLX), the only program to crest a billion minutes streamed, with 1.308B. It displaced a reliable billion-minute title from the past couple of months, Bridgerton (659M minutes).
- And those were trailed by WandaVision (DIS), Disney Plus' only entry on the originals list, as it progressed through a weekly release schedule of its first season with its fifth outing. The series streamed 589M minutes for the week.
- Acquired series were again dominated by Netflix, with all 10 of the top 10 slots, led by Criminal Minds which streamed 904M minutes - just ahead of Grey's Anatomy (854M minutes), Mariposa de Barrio (759M minutes) and Schitt's Creek (591M minutes).
- And the movies chart was led by a pair of Netflix titles: new release The Dig, which streamed 403M minutes, and Finding Ohana, with 367M. Those were followed up by Disney's reliable charter Moana, with 198M minutes.
- Disney placed two other movies in the top 10: Frozen at No. 7, with 151M minutes, and Frozen II at No. 10, with 130M minutes.
- (Nielsen's figures incorporate viewing from four major streamers: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video (NASDAQ:AMZN), Disney Plus, and Hulu.)
