ECR Minerals PLC (LON:ECR) announced high-grade drilling results from the Bailieston gold project in the Victoria Goldfields, Australia.
Five diamond drillholes have been completed across the Historic Reserve #3 (HR3) area covering the Byron and Maori reef lines with one hole returning two high-grade intercepts, including one of 0.5 metres at 19 grammes a tonne gold.
ECR noted that not all holes intersected significant gold mineralisation, as expected with early-stage exploration drilling, but that they will all provide data to be fed into its geological model for the area.
“These are the first results generated by our new drilling rig, and to our knowledge they are also the first diamond drilling results ever obtained from the HR3 area,” said chief executive Craig Brown.
“The extra geological insight afforded by diamond drilling will be of great use in vectoring further work, and this is an advantage which previous explorers have not had.”
The Bailieston project is targeting gold mineralisation of the Melbourne Zone, which hosts successful modern gold mines including the world-class Fosterville gold mine owned by Kirkland Lake Gold.
