- American International Group (AIG +0.5%) President and CEO Peter Zaffino will also become the insurer's chairman as of Jan. 1, 2022, succeeding current chairman, Brian Duperreault, who retires at the end of this year.
- Zaffino became CEO in March 2021. "Peter has played an indispensable role in AIG’s turnaround and his unwavering focus, strength of character, integrity and strategic vision will drive AIG’s continued success," Duperreault said in a statement.
- Last October, AIG announced its plan to spin off its Life & Retirement business, saying in May it will spin off almost 20% of the unit through an IPO. In July, Blackstone agreed to acquire a 9.9% equity stake in the unit for $2.2B in cash.
