AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC) customers can now buy AMC Theatres digital gift cards with dogecoin (DOGE-USD+4.1%) and other cryptocurrencies using a BitPay Wallet, AMC CEO Adam Aron wrote in a tweet.
The move came shortly after Aron asked his Twitter followers if Doge (DOGE-USD) should be accepted for online payments; 68.1% of respondents said "yes, for sure do it."
The partnership with BitPay, a bitcoin payment service provider founded in 2011, allows for AMC to accept other cryptos such as ethereum (ETH-USD-0.4%), Litecoin (LTC-USD-0.2%) and bitcoin cash (BCH-USD+3.0%), according to TechStory.
Users can purchase digital gift cards amounting to a maximum of $200 per day using dogecoin (DOGE-USD).
AMC shares slide 2.1% in premarket trading.
Doge, the meme-like alt coin, may be down 16.3% M/M, but it's still up 301% in the past six months and 9,839% Y/Y.
Less than a month ago, AMC's CEO said the company will accept bitcoin (BTC-USD+4.9%) for online ticket and concession payments.
