Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reportedly fired one of the leaders of an employee-led effort to bring to light instances of discrimination and harassment at the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant.
According to The Verge, Apple (AAPL) fired #AppleToo leader Janneke Parrish on Thursday for deleting files from her company phone during an Apple investigation into leaks and worker organization at the company. The Verge said that the files Parrish deleted included Robinhood, Pokemon Go, and Google Drive, and that her actions fell under Apple's "non-compliance" regulations.
Janneke had been with Apple for more than five years, and had been a program manager for the company's Apple Maps division at the time of her firing.
In August, Janneke and another Apple employee, Cher Scarlett, started a website called Apple Too, for Apple employees to post stories and incidents of harassment and discrimination they experienced in the workplace. Scarlett is still employed at Apple, but on paid medical leave for what the Verge described as "internal harassment" she experienced at the company.
