According to the Financial Times, two of the world's largest aircraft leasing firms - AerCap (AER+0.2%) and Avolon - have warned Airbus that its bold plans to accelerate output are unwarranted given still subdued demand from airlines after the pandemic.
Airbus has responded to the criticism by saying it is sticking to its plans, which involve a firm target of 64 A320-family jets per month by Q2 2023, with the potential to raise production to 70/month in early 2024 and 75/month by 2025, all compared with ~40/month currently.
