User reports of website outages are piling up this afternoon, with several digital businesses running into downtime.
Sudden spikes in problem reporting are showing up on the crowd-sourced tool Downdetector, affecting a wide variety of sites/companies, including Snapchat (NYSE:SNAP), Spotify (NYSE:SPOT), Discord, Etsy (NASDAQ:ETSY), Home Depot (NYSE:HD), Lowe's (NYSE:LOW), Amazon Web Services (NASDAQ:AMZN), Target (NYSE:TGT), Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) - and Google and Google Cloud (GOOG, GOOGL).
A networking fault at Google Cloud may be behind the swelling number of reports, cybersecurity watchdog Netblocks says.
The incident isn't related to country-level Internet disruptions or filtering, Netblocks says.
