Electronics giant Samsung Electronics America has partnered with Ethereum-based virtual reality platform Decentraland to open a virtual store in the metaverse. The store is the virtual version of Samsung’s flagship 837 physical store.
Dubbed Samsung 837X, this virtual store will however be open in Decentraland for a limited period. In a released statement, Samsung enthused:
“This is one of the largest brand land takeovers in the history of Decentraland.”
The Samsung 837X virtual store will reportedly offer a slew of digital adventures. These will take place via its “Connectivity Theater and Sustainability Forest” as well as a “Customization Stage,” musical celebration. According to Michelle Crossan-Matos, senior vice president of corporate marketing and communications at Samsung Electronics America:
“The metaverse empowers us to transcend physical and spatial limits to create unique virtual experiences that could not happen otherwise.”
Samsung’s Connectivity Theater will exhibit the electronic giant’s news from its Consumer Electronics Show (CES). This is a three-day event that began on January 5th. Furthermore, Samsung’s Sustainability Forest will provide a mythical experience for beneficiaries with the aid of countless digital trees. In real life, the Korean electronics company is also planting trees. In fact, Samsung recently went into partnership with Veritree, a Cardano-based climate restoration platform. Under the collaboration, Samsung will manage the planting of up to two million trees in Madagascar in the first three months of 2022.
Samsung 837X’s real-life counterpart is at 837 Washington Street in Manhattan, New York.
