Google Cloud Establishes Digital Assets Team to Expedite Customers’ Efforts in the Metaverse

Digital Assets

Google Cloud is looking to tap into the world of crypto and blockchain, starting with establishing a dedicated digital assets team. Google Cloud’s vice president of financial services, Yolande Piazza, recently made the announcement, calling the group the Google Cloud Digital Assets Team. Google Cloud also issued a statement via its official Twitter:

“We’re launching a new, dedicated Digital Asset Team to help underpin the #blockchain ecosystems of tomorrow. Whether you’re implementing blockchain strategies or blockchain-native, you can rely on our scalable, secure and sustainable infrastructure.”

The specialized team will assist the platform’s clients in creating, trading, storing value, and launching new blockchain-based products.

Google Cloud is one on a growing list of platforms looking to leverage the world of digital assets. However, this is not the platform’s first foray into the world of digital currencies. Google Cloud’s parent company Google recently hired a PayPal exec to lead the crypto payments push of Google Pay. Also, sometime last year, Google collaborated with leading American crypto exchange Coinbase to allow customers pay for goods and services using Google Pay.

Crypto, blockchain, Web3, and decentralized finance (DeFi) have all become the rave now, particularly as the metaverse gradually takes shape. Countless businesses from basic consumer goods to luxury items and automobiles are creating scores of lucrative opportunities for themselves in this space.
